Annual Meeting of the DBG - registration, excursions, publications
According to the rules of the society every member of the German Soil Science Society (DBG) has the right to submit one oral presentation or one poster as first author for the annual meeting. He/she may appear as co-author as often as he/she likes.
The date and the required formalities will usually be published at the end of the previous year of the meeting on the DGB website and in the „Nachrichten der DBG“. Additionally, those topics can be found here, which the executive board or to the commissions define to be the thematic focus. Please, send a short abstract of maximum 1 page DIN A4 on these indicated topics or (if aapplicable) on a freely selected theme to the chairperson of the specific commission. The abstract should describe the objectives and should indicate, which results will be presented, which methods were used and which conclusions can be expected. Beside the names of the authors the first author should clearly state his membership number of the DBG on top of the abstract. The name and address of the commission chairperson can be found on the membership list or here. Contributions from working groups should be submitted to the chair of that commission where the working group or committee is assigned. Working groups which are assigned directly to the executive board should submit their contribution to the president.
The chairpersons decide upon the acceptance of the submitted contribution. They may assign the contribution, if applicable, to intersectoral sessions and decide upon the way of presentation either as oral presentation or poster. Unsufficiently qualified contributions will be rejected.
The chairpersons of the commissions send their decisions to the executive board of the DBG, who will setup the program for the annual meeting based on the submitted contributions after checking if the authors have balanced their membership fee.
The program of the annual meeting will be sent to all members.
The programm booklet, which appears around May prior to the meeting, contains the forms for registration, which has to be submitted to the office of the society. Registration will only be binding after receiving the required fee to the bank account of the meeting.
At the beginning of August the registered person, who has balanced the costs of his booked activities, will receive a written confirmation of her/his reservations for excursions and special events. There is no separate confirmation of application to the overall event. Paying the meeting fee in advance is an indispensable prerequisite for members as well as for non-members. Purchasing of a day ticket will not be sufficient.
Oral presentations and posters presented at the annual meeting may be published in the online journal of the DBG „Berichte der DBG“, if the autors have cleared their financial obligations to the DBG. The manuscripts can be uploaded during a defined time frame to the website of “Berichte der DBG”. The format of the manuscript has to follow strictly the Rules for providing the pdf documents for “Berichte der DBG”.
