Nanjing

5th International Soil Judging Contest

Co-organized by the Soil Science Society of China (SSSC) and the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS), the contest serves as an exceptional platform for emerging early-career researchers including undergraduates, Master, and PhD students. It combines rigorous training with specialized modules focused on regional soils, fostering excellence and international collaboration.

We encourage you to assemble your 5–6-person team with 4 students, and 1-2 coaches (postdoc or senior scientists) to receive intensive training from a distinguished panel of international experts. Participants will then apply their skills in a practical field challenge set in the distinctive landscapes of the Yangtze River Delta.

Soil Science Society of China will provide funding up to $20,000 to support two eligible teams/10 person. $5,000 of this is from waiving the two registration fees, leaving $15,000 to be spent by the teams. Funding is limited to teams or individuals from low-income, lower-middle income, and upper middle-income countries in regions such as Africa, South America, and Asia, as defined by the World Bank.
