This meeting could be ‘for information’ (progress regarding GSP institutional matters), however, we would be happy if you bring up any opinions, questions, suggestions. Your input will be very helpful to prepare our this year’s Plenary Meeting. There is no registration, however, please inform us about your interest. We will send a meeting link shortly beforehand.

Time of the Workshop: 21 January 2026, 16:00-17:30 CET (online)

We expect that this special workshop is largely of interest for focal points, while several other partners may join out of interest as well. 
We intend to propose two main topics:

1. Information about the activities of the GSP’s Ad-hoc WG on Institutional Matters

By now, some of you and myself have commented on the draft GSP Terms of Reference, suggesting a specific role for the regional, subregional and national soil partnerships. ESP chair and other members will share and exchange their views, allowing all ESP partners to familiarize with the developments.

2. National, EU- and GSP soil indicator systems

Based on the discussion during our last meeting in Nov., many of you have interest to discuss further the synergies between the provisions of the EU Soil Monitoring Law, national soil monitoring and the mapping and sharing of soil indicators. In principle, by complying to standards such as INSPIRE, any national soil monitoring (EU and non-EU) can publish and share interoperable data soil sets in different contexts, including globally.

During this meeting, the ESP Secretariat intends to offer a space for exchanging views amongst you, whereas the discussion is also supportive to our ESP representative to the International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII), Fenny Van Egmond.
